The Dalai Lama wins the 2012 Templeton Prize

The Dalai Lama has been awarded the 2012 Templeton Prize. As someone who pushed for this to happen, I am glad the Dalai Lama has been recognized for his contributions as “an incomparable global voice for universal ethics, nonviolence, and harmony among world religions.” More details here.

it seems that the dharma of the Buddha went through a metamorphosis when it entered China 500 yrs following the death of the Buddha as did the dharma (gospel of Thomas) of Jesus when interpreted by scribes from Jewish culture when they wrote the synoptic gospels…..both sages became gods…..sages that taught the importance of seeking truth as opposed to relying of faith…..

Jesus (in Thomas) said to Thomas; i am not your teacher….you have merely drunk and become intoxicated from the bubbling water that i have pour out…..

the Buddha to those sitting around him when death was approaching him; be a light unto yourself, betake yourselves to no external refuge….hold fast to the Truth….look not for refuge to anyone besides yourselves…..
